Deep Sea Employment Requirements:
|
ENGINE:
- U.S. Coast Guard Third Assistant Engineer's License or higher rating, steam or
motor, unlimited horsepower.
- Refrigeration Recovery Certification, Hazardous Materials Certification.
- Current: STCW, Passport, Merchant Mariner's Document, Drug-Free Card
and Benzene Card (tankers only)
DECK:
- U.S. Coast Guard Third Mate's License or higher rating, steam and
motor, unlimited tonnage.
- Current: STCW, Radar Observer, FCC GMDSS Operator, Hazardous Materials
Certification, Passport, Merchant Mariner's Document, Drug-Free Card and
Benzene Card (tankers only).
ELECTRONIC TECHNICIAN & RADIO OFFICER:
- U.S. Coast Guard Radio Officer License, Hazardous Materials
Certification, Radar Repair Certificate.
- Current STCW, Passport, Merchant Mariner's Document, Drug-Free Card and
Benzene Card (tankers only).
RADIO-ELECTRONICS OFFICER:
- GMDSS Maintainer, Hazardous Materials Certification.
- Current: STCW, Passport, Merchant Mariner's Document, Drug-Free Card
and Benzene Card (tankers only).

Great Lakes Employment Requirements:
|
ENGINE:
U.S. Coast Guard Third Assistant Engineer's License, steam or motor,
any horsepower (or higher rating)
DECK:
- U.S. Coast First Class Pilot's License and FCC Marine Radio Operator's
Permit (inspected vessels), and/or
- U.S. Coast Guard Mate, 1,600 gross tons or higher rating (uninspected
vessels)
- There are also unlicensed employment opportunities through AMO in both
the deck and engine departments of U.S. Great Lakes vessels.
